between May 22 and 24.

"'Taming the Dragon' will be the largest exercise of its type ever
held in Europe and the largest this year in the world, and it will
the first combined military-civilian exercise in Croatia, where we
will display our readiness and responsibility to respond to the
most difficult demands", Interior Minister Sime Lucin said at a
press conference on Friday.
"Through our ability to co-operate on such a demanding project, we
will qualify for NATO membership as well as other international
security institutions", Defence Minister Jozo Rados said.
"Taming the Dragon - Dalmatia 2002" is a regular part of the
activities of the Working Group for Protection against
Catastrophes within the Central European Initiative and the
Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe.
Of the 23 countries participating, ten will be observers, while it
is estimated that the action will attract about 1,200 participants
of whom 500 are from abroad.
The Croatian representatives will include firemen, civil
protection, land army and military aviation.
