BELGRADE, April 23 (Hina) - Veselin Sljivancanin, whom the Hague tribunal indicted for war crimes committed in eastern Croatia's Vukovar in 1991, spoke to Yugoslav Justice Minister Savo Markovic yesterday, the Blic daily said on Tuesday. #L# "I called Markovic on the phone since I'm not in Belgrade. I don't have a lawyer nor do I intend to get one as I don't feel guilty," Sljivancanin told Blic, declining to say if he would surrender to the UN tribunal. The newspaper said the lawyers of Mile Mrksic, another indictee for the Vukovar crimes, and Nikola Sainovic, a former Yugoslav prime minister indicted for war crimes in Kosovo in 1999, also spoke with those in charge at the Yugoslav Justice Ministry about "details of the procedure for their clients' departure to The Hague." Milan Martic's lawyer Strahinja Kastratovic said he would agree with the Yugoslav government when his client would go to The Hague. He also said Martic would not incriminate anyone before the tribunal. The former Yugoslav Army chief-of-staff Dragoljub Ojdanic, charged with war crimes in Kosovo in 1999, and ex-Yugoslav army (JNA) officer Vladimir Kovacevic aka Rambo, indicted for war crimes in southern Croatia's Dubrovnik in 1991, will also surrender to the UN tribunal. Under agreed procedure, the Yugoslav Justice Ministry notifies the Hague tribunal's Belgrade office about the indictee's departure and the Belgrade office notifies the tribunal and the Dutch authorities, according to Blic. Assistant Justice Minister Nebojsa Sarkic last night denied that the ministry would release the list of the accused who reported for voluntary surrender at noon today. He confirmed, however, that the indictments against those who refused to turn themselves in would be delivered to competent district courts today or tomorrow. (hina) ha
