The document was signed by the Deputy Italian Economy Minister
Adolfo Urso and Croatia's Crafts, Small and Medium Enterprises
Minister Zeljko Pecek.
Italy is Croatia's chief trade partner, with US$2.6 billion
realised in 2001, the majority of which referred to small
businesses, said Pecek.
Good cooperation was achieved in shipbuilding and wood and textile
processing. Croatia believes that direct communication between the
two countries' businessmen will gain in importance in the future,
said Pecek, announcing that a Croatian delegation would soon visit
Italy.
Deputy Minister Urso said a special working group would be
established to deal with regional cooperation in terms of small
economy.
An Italian delegation headed by Urso today discussed the
possibilities of improving tourist cooperation with
representatives of the Croatian Tourism Ministry. Both sides
agreed the development of tourism was strategically important for
the two countries. They concluded it was necessary to upgrade the
joint preservation and presentation of the Adriatic coast.
Italian businessmen are very interested in investing in boating,
camping and agrotourism in Croatia, said Urso.
