The Yugoslav government yesterday called on 23 war crimes indictees
to surrender to the UN tribunal. Ten are Yugoslav citizens and the
others Bosnian or Croatian.
Yugoslav Foreign Minister Goran Svilanovic told B92 radio today
that did not mean that most of the accused were in Yugoslavia, but
that it was assumed they had more confidence in guarantees which the
Yugoslav government would offer them.
"I don't believe the persons on that list are even in our country and
available to our judicial bodies. I think the most important thing
is for all whose names are on the list to finally end up at The Hague.
Sooner or later, they will be there," Svilanovic said ahead of
meeting del Ponte.
