ZAGREB, April 4 (Hina) - The "Koncar" electrical industry and Croatian Railways (HZ) on Thursday signed two EUR9.58 million contracts on the delivery of equipment for the reconstruction and upgrading of passenger wagons and electrical
locomotives.

Croatian Railways (HZ) on Thursday signed two EUR9.58 million
contracts on the delivery of equipment for the reconstruction and
upgrading of passenger wagons and electrical locomotives. #L#
The first contract binds Koncar and its informatics department to
deliver electrical equipment to be used for the reconstruction and
upgrading of 33 passenger wagons. The contract is valued at EUR7.23
million and along with Koncar's electronics and informatics units,
which will produce the most important electrical wagon equipment -
the four-phase static transformers, it will also include several
other domestic companies - "Elektropromet" from Belisce,
"Elektrokem" and "Nehaj". The contracted equipment should be
delivered in full to HZ within 32 to 48 weeks.
The entire project of reconstructing and upgrading the wagons,
which is being headed by TZV Gredelj, will be financed by HZ with a
loan from the World Bank.
The second contract, valued at EUR2.35 million, relates to the
upgrading of 12 HZ electric locomotives, of which seven have
already been completed and the remaining five should be completed
by the end of July this year. The upgrading of a further three
electric locomotives should be completed by year's end.
This project will be financed through a loan from the European Bank
for Reconstruction and Development. The contract was given to
Koncar following an international tender.
