"We were unpleasantly surprised by the decision, but social
dialogue continues with those who believe that cooperation is the
only path to reforms and development," Deputy PM Granic told
reporters after meeting the presidents of the union federations who
signed Partnership for Development. SSSH representatives did not
attend.
The SSSH decided to leave the agreement because of the failure to
adopt annexes to an agreement on the wage policy, the basic
principles of social policy, the privatisation process and the
European Social Charter, as well as because it was dissatisfied
with proposed changes to the Labour Act.
Granic said the SSSH left the agreement due to internal reasons and
not the agreement itself.
He added work on the annexes was intense and that they could be
adopted on April 8. As for the Labour Act, he said it could be
amended.
