Rados should, before the parliamentary session, offer his
resignation himself from a sense of moral and political
responsibility, Sanader said.
even if that were true, and it is not, a defence minister should not
say something like that, he asserted.
Sanader said Rados's statement only served to continue the
government's general policy which, he said, spreads pessimism,
hopelessness and apathy.
Sanader was also very critical of the allocating of new posts in the
government. It is impermissible for Premier Racan to propose new
ministers, while he doubts their quality, he said and described it
as a unique case in European history and democracy.
Sanader said the HDZ supported the police officers who had been
dismissed and who have for the past several days been protesting in
front of the Government building. Neither the interior minister nor
the government are treating them correctly, he said.
The HDZ demands of the government to set up a care programme for the
police officers.
These people are Croatian Homeland War veterans who are living off
900 kuna from the employment office and there are indications that
they are being replaced by people who had left the force in the
1990s, Sanader said.
