been decreasing in recent years, while the production and sale of
soft drinks has been continually rising, it was said at a regular
session of the Economy-Interest Association of Beverage Producers
last Thursday. The session, which elected "Badel 1862" general
manager Ante Perkovic association president, discussed product and
market trends and the need for businessmen to participate in the
adoption of laws on the production of beverages. The production of
spirits (stocks, production, purchase, import) in 2001 amounted to

Production has been decreasing for the sixth year in a row and the
production of Brandy is three times lower than in 1994. The
production of other types of brandy and sweet liqueurs has dropped
as well while the output of bitter liqueurs and sliwowitz has
slightly increased. Mineral water and soft drinks are the most
stable products and their production has been increasing steadily
for years. Total soft drink sales increased from 129 million litres
in 1994 to 278 million litres last year. Mineral water sales have
grown from 92 to 234 million litres in the same period. Current
mineral water exports amount to 14 million litres, and last year
alone they rose by 19%.
