ZAGREB, March 5 (Hina) - Lord Paddy Ashdown, new High Representative of the international community in Bosnia, visited Zagreb on Tuesday. He met with Zdravko Tomac, deputy speaker of the Croatian parliament and chairman of the
parliamentary committee for external policies. During their talks, Tomac said it was important to amend the Constitution of Bosnia to make Bosniaks, Croats and Serbs equal in the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina, and establish the House of Peoples in the parliament. He said these steps are also necessary in Republika Srpska to achieve multiethnicity there. Lord Ashdown said he would take office in Bosnia after a decision on constitutional changes is reached. He said he did not find institutional solutions as important as the human rights of citizens, which should be in line with European standards. He announced measures to prevent crime and corruption, and establish the legal system.(hina) np
