BELGRADE, Feb 26 (Hina) - Former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic is having a fair trial at the UN war crimes tribunal at The Hague and his defence indicates that "he is supplied with data by someone very well-informed," the
president of the Yugoslav Committee of Lawyers for Human Rights, Biljana Kovacevic-Vuco, said on Tuesday. Milosevic's knowledge of events in Kosovo could, however, also prove as an aggravating circumstance, she told the news agency Beta. "It is fascinating how much Milosevic knows. It shows that he has an absolute insight into everything that happened in Kosovo," she said. Kovacevic-Vuco believes the Hague tribunal prosecution's preparation for the trial is "disastrous", which she says insults everyone who advocated the ousting, arrest and extradition of Milosevic to The Hague. An indictment cannot be based on "several political assessments even if they are correct," she said
BELGRADE, Feb 26 (Hina) - Former Yugoslav President Slobodan
Milosevic is having a fair trial at the UN war crimes tribunal at The
Hague and his defence indicates that "he is supplied with data by
someone very well-informed," the president of the Yugoslav
Committee of Lawyers for Human Rights, Biljana Kovacevic-Vuco,
said on Tuesday.
Milosevic's knowledge of events in Kosovo could, however, also
prove as an aggravating circumstance, she told the news agency
Beta. "It is fascinating how much Milosevic knows. It shows that he
has an absolute insight into everything that happened in Kosovo,"
she said.
Kovacevic-Vuco believes the Hague tribunal prosecution's
preparation for the trial is "disastrous", which she says insults
everyone who advocated the ousting, arrest and extradition of
Milosevic to The Hague.
An indictment cannot be based on "several political assessments
even if they are correct," she said, adding it put "Milosevic in
advantage, as he is familiar with the whole situation and applies a
selective approach to the facts he knows, which makes a strong
impression on the Serbian public."
