Stjepan Mesic and Prime Minister Ivica Racan on Friday held a working meeting at which they agreed on political principles of governing intelligence services and related relations among the bearers of executive authority, unofficial sources at the President's Office said. Under the agreed principles, the President and the Prime Minister have balanced control powers over secret services. Both will control the functioning of secret services, with the President keeping his current power to appoint and relieve of duty the heads of the intelligence community. Two original proposals on the reorganisation of intelligence services have been integrated into one and its details will be discussed by the President's, Prime Minister's and intelligence community's work
