PRISTINA, Feb 6 (Hina) - The UN Mission to Kosovo (UNMIK) on Tuesday dismissed accusations according to which the arrest of three members of the former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) had political grounds, and expressed concern about
protests organised in Pristina in the past several days. The UNMIK spokesman, Simon Haselock, said an orchestrated campaign had been initiated to bring into question the grounds for the arrest of three members of the former KLA who were suspected of having committed war crimes against Albanian civilians between September 1998 and June 1999. The UNMIK believes the recent protests have been organised by those who resorted to violent extremism during and after the war in Kosovo, probably for fear of being arrested, Haselock said. He dismissed claims that the latest arrests were the result of any talks between the UNMIK and Belgrade.(hina) np
