SARAJEVO, Jan 28 (Hina) - The government of Bosnia's federation has launched a probe into the business of several international organisations and banks active in the country which are believed to have supported terrorist activities.
Federal Prime Minister Alija Behmen is quoted in the Sarajevo daily Dnevni Avaz of Monday as saying the investigation has been launched in the wake of similar ones around the world following last September's terrorist attacks on the United States. "It is known that suspect capital could have been brought into Bosnia and Herzegovina owing to the disorganised system and control, and we want to investigate this," Behmen said, declining to confirm if it was true that organisations linked with terrorists were active in Bosnia. The list of suspicious organisations is a secret, but Dnevni Avaz claims at least two banks, several travel agencies and humanitarian organisations
SARAJEVO, Jan 28 (Hina) - The government of Bosnia's federation has
launched a probe into the business of several international
organisations and banks active in the country which are believed to
have supported terrorist activities.
Federal Prime Minister Alija Behmen is quoted in the Sarajevo daily
Dnevni Avaz of Monday as saying the investigation has been launched
in the wake of similar ones around the world following last
September's terrorist attacks on the United States.
"It is known that suspect capital could have been brought into
Bosnia and Herzegovina owing to the disorganised system and
control, and we want to investigate this," Behmen said, declining
to confirm if it was true that organisations linked with terrorists
were active in Bosnia.
The list of suspicious organisations is a secret, but Dnevni Avaz
claims at least two banks, several travel agencies and humanitarian
organisations will have their operations thoroughly checked. The
probe will tackle their establishment, work, bank accounts, and
investments.
Federal Justice Minister Zvonko Mijan said his ministry was not
directly in charge of the investigation as is the case in most
countries. The probe will be conducted by institutions supervising
Bosnia's financial operations.
