OSIJEK, Jan 21 (Hina) - The Croatian Association of Trade Unions (HUS) assessed that the recently presented government programme of employment was "absolutely acceptable", as it was directed towards people who have a hard time finding
a job. However, the HUS feels that employment does not depend on regulations, but follows the economic logic, HUS president Zdenko Mucnjak said in Osijek on Monday. Mucnjak told a news conference the government had laid down the framework, and the issue now had to be solved by employers. According to him, 0.36 percent of the gross domestic product would be earmarked for the employment pogramme, which is not sufficient enough in comparison to other transitional and developing countries, which set aside 1.5 percent. However, Mucnjak applauded the government for making the decision to actively become involved in decreasing unemployment.(hina) lml sb
