SPLIT, Jan 18 (Hina) - A dead rare kind of dolphin, not usually a resident of the Adriatic, was found dead in a net retrieved by fishermen at the Viski Bay on Friday. The dolphin was transported to Split's Public Health Service in the
late afternoon, from where it is to be forwarded to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Zagreb. The corpse shows no indications of violent death, and it is presumed that it got entangled into a fisherman's net and suffocated, a biologist of the Split-Dalmatia County Public Health Institute, Josip Bakic, said. The presumption should be verified by an autopsy in Zagreb on Saturday. The interesting fact about the case is that this was the third dolphin of the same kind in the past two years which had wondered into the Adriatic and lost its life by accident.(hina) lml
