SARAJEVO/STUTTGART, Jan 18 (Hina) - Six Algerians, suspected of involvement in preparations for terrorist attacks in Bosnia-Herzegovina, were handed over to the US authorities on Friday, the US Army Europe Command said in a statement.
The statement, issued from the US Army Europe Command in Stuttgart, said the Algerians were handed over to the US authorities and transferred to a safe location. The hand-over was carried out at the request of the US government after it obtained information that the Algerians would be released because there was no legal ground for the Bosnian authorities to keep them in custody. The US authorities appreciate efforts made by the Bosnian authorities with regard to the case, said the statement. It contained no information as to where exactly the Algerians have been transferred. The Sarajevo media previously speculated the suspects would be taken to the US military base Guantamo
