Reporters asked him to comment on possible conflicts of interests
among HNB Council members, mostly those politically active, about
which the media wrote around the time of last month's parliamentary
elections.
Rohatinski said that if some HNB Council members presented views of
monetary and economic policy issues different from those of the
Council, that was not sufficient reason to initiate that someone be
relieved of duty.
He stressed that someone could be relieved of duty in case of
violations of Article 41 of the HNB Act which stipulates that an HNB
Council member cannot be an MP, a state official or an official in
bodies of political parties.
There are indications that such conflicts of interests may have
occurred among some HNB Council members, Rohatinski said, adding that
additional information would be collected.
If the indications prove to be true, the HNB Council will act in
accordance with the HNB Act and ask parliament to relieve the people
in question from duty, he said.
