ZAGREB, Nov 27 (Hina) - The Democratic Centre (DC) on Thursday
dismissed media speculations that the DC made its support to the new
government conditional on receiving two ministries, the DC said in
a statement. #L#
"The DC will support the forming of the government by premier
designate Ivo Sanader, because our objective is that Croatia
receive as stable a government as possible. In its platform, the DC
envisaged downsizing the government and reducing the number of
ministries. The party will most definitely not seek two ministries
and make its support to the government conditional on that," said a
statement signed by DC vice president Vesna Skare Ozbolt.
The statement says that party president Mate Granic announced he
would withdraw from his duty at an extraordinary party convention
and that he did not plan to run for any executive position.
Some media reported today that the DC is ready to support Sanader's
government if Sanader appoints Granic European integration
minister and Vesna Skare Ozbolt justice minister.
Skare Ozbolt said her party would enter negotiations on taking part
in the government in order to help the forming of the government in
line with the election results and constituents' will.
