ZAGREB, Nov 3 (Hina) - The press office of the Croatian Bishops'
Conference (HBK) issued a statement on Monday on the 27th plenary
session of the HBK held on October 26-30 on the southern island of
Hvar. #L#
The meeting analysed the messages Pope John Paul II had sent to the
faithful and all people of goodwill during his third apostolic
visit to Croatia in June.
The pope's guidelines will be incorporated in the pastoral
programmes of all Croatian dioceses and archdioceses, the
statement said.
Also discussed was the restitution of church property confiscated
during Yugoslav communist rule.
"The bishops agreed that the restitution process is very difficult,
even in areas where there are no special obstacles, and that much
less has been returned than it is sometimes portrayed in public,"
the statement said.
In view of the forthcoming parliamentary elections in Croatia, the
bishops appealed to voters and candidates to show dignity,
responsibility and commitment to the common good and a safer future
of the people and the state.
