BELGRADE, Oct 25 (Hina) - The authorities in Serbia have the obligation to hand over four indicted army and police generals as fast as possible and they cannot prolong their surrender and arrest, the spokeswoman for the chief
prosecutor of the UN war crimes tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague said on Saturday.
BELGRADE, Oct 25 (Hina) - The authorities in Serbia have the
obligation to hand over four indicted army and police generals as
fast as possible and they cannot prolong their surrender and
arrest, the spokeswoman for the chief prosecutor of the UN war
crimes tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague said on

"Any delay will be a violation of obligations and put Serbia in a
difficult position," Florence Hartmann told Radio B92, adding that
in case of an unfavourable response from Serbia, Chief Prosecutor
Carla Del Ponte would inform the UN Security Council about it.
Serbian Interior Minister Dusan Mihajlovic said in an interview
with Belgrade's "Danas" daily of today the police would act in line
with the law if police general Sreten Lukic failed to surrender, and
that "other decisions are within the jurisdiction of Serbia and
Montenegro and the competent minister".
Lukic, who heads the Serbian Interior Ministry's public security
department, is one of the four army and police generals against whom
the UN tribunal issued indictments for war crimes in Kosovo several
days ago.
