Cardinal Josip Bozanic, said on Wednesday at his first news conference since he was installed in the college of cardinals.
ROME, Oct 22 (Hina) - It is a special feeling when a cardinal is
approaching the Holy Father to receive a ring which means the
genuine allegiance of cardinals to the Holy Father in governing the
entire Church, Zagreb Archbishop, Cardinal Josip Bozanic, said on
Wednesday at his first news conference since he was installed in the
college of cardinals. #L#
"On this occasion I asked the Holy Father to bless Croatia and the
Croatian people and he did so," Bozanic told Croatian reporters in
the Vatican after the completion of the two-day ceremony of
elevating new cardinals.
Bozanic, who is a vice-president of the European Bishops'
Conference, said that the future European Constitution should
include the Christian roots of the Continent. Bozanic has therefore
affixed his signature to a letter forwarded to the chairman of the
inter-state conference, charged with drawing up the future
constitution of Europe.
The primate of the Roman Catholic Church in Croatia assessed that
the current composition of the college of cardinals was the real
reflection of the fact that the Catholic Church was universal.
