"It is in our interest that Croatia accepts European standards in
all areas and we will support it in that. But a lot of time and
tolerance is required for the resolving of issues with Croatia,"
said Rupel, speaking about Slovenia's foreign policy at a forum on
the country's future which started under the chairmanship of
Slovene President Janez Drnovsek.
According to Rupel, Slovenia will advocate "the principle of
agreement and the condemnation of unilateralism" at the Venice
conference.
He stressed that Croatia's recent decision to proclaim a protected
zone in the Adriatic was not an isolated incident, adding that it
was a constant in the two countries' relations.
