Prime Minister Ivica Racan said earlier on Monday that
parliamentary election would be held on November 23.
Asked to comment on Racan's announcement Mesic, who is taking part
in the 58 UN General Assembly in New York, said this date was being
mentioned for a long time adding that it was obvious that both the
opposition and the ruling coalition were ready to go to the polls on
the said date.
Mesic reminded that he advocated spring elections, but added that
the pre-election campaign had already started.
