ZAGREB, Sept 15 (Hina) - The Croatian True Revival (HIP) has refuted
allegations by a senior official of the Croatian Democratic Union
(HDZ), Vladimir Seks, who asserted that funds from the HDZ
foundation Zaklada Drzavnog Zavjeta were also spent for the
establishment of the HIP party. #L#
"The fact is that HIP has never, either directly or indirectly, used
any funds from the foundation, which Seks insinuated," the HIP said
in a statement on Monday.
Commenting on charges pressed against his former colleagues in the
HDZ party, Ivic Pasalic, Ivan Aralica and Ante Beljo, who are
suspected of having embezzled funds from the foundation, Seks was
quoted by a daily on Sunday as saying that the then governing body of
the foundation had, secretly and without the HDZ leadership's
knowledge, spent money from the foundation to establish two new
political parties, the HIP and the Croatian Bloc (HB).
The HIP believes that such statements made by Seks prove that the
current leadership of the HDZ is in cahoots with the incumbent
authorities, and that the police and judiciary are being used for
the purposes of some parties' electioneering.
