The incident occurred in the village of Maticani near Pristina when
the car in which the two men, both ethnic Albanians, were riding was
sprayed with bullets from an ambush.
Morina said that an investigation was under way and that the motive
for the attack was not yet clear.
Albanian-language media in Pristina identified the civilian as
Agim Makolli, who was sentenced to 13 years in jail by a Serbian
court in 1997 for his political activity. He was released after the
end of the war in Kosovo in 1999.
