HR-BULLETIN-Politika BRIEF NEWS BULLETIN IN ENGLISH NO. 5041 HINA Zagreb 10 August 2003MESIC: AGREEMENT ON REGIME ON DANUBE SHOULD BE UNAMBIGUOUSPLOCE, Aug 10 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic has said that reaching agreement on the regime on the Danube river is vital for Croatia because of the river's great importance for Vukovar and the Danube area. "The Danube is a shared river connecting a large number of countries. It integrates the economies of those countries and it is vital that we reach unambiguous agreement on the regime on the Danube," Mesic told Hina in Ploce on Saturday evening, when asked to comment on claims by some Serbian politicians that communication with Croatia regarding the border on the Danube was difficult. "Some issues have been solved successfully, but most of them are yet to be solved," Mesic said, pointing to the importance of the Danube for the economy of Vukovar and the Croatian Danube area.
