The commands of the armed forces of the Muslim-Croat federation and
Republika Srpska are ready for unification, but there are political
obstacles, Chiarini told a news conference.
The general went on to say that efforts were under way to track down
war crimes suspects.
Capturing war crimes suspects is not an easy task, because this
country has only recently emerged from war, Chiarini said.
He said his multinational brigade, which is responsible for an area
stretching from Sarajevo to the border with Montenegro, has no
information about the whereabouts of the most wanted war crimes
suspect, Bosnian Serb wartime leader Radovan Karadzic.
According to media reports, Karadzic is hiding in wooded
mountainous areas of eastern Herzegovina controlled by this
brigade.
