Mrdja admitted to two counts of the indictment -- murder and
attempted murder -- while the prosecutor and the defence settled on
dropping the first count -- persecution, Christian Chartier,
spokesman for the U.N. court's registry, told Hina over the
telephone.
Mrdja was charged with participation in the killing of more than 200
non-Serbs on Mount Vlasic near Travnik.
Asked about the punishment, Chartier said the prosecutor and the
defence suggested a 15-20 jail term but added this suggestion in no
way bound the trial chamber in the reaching of the verdict, which is
expected later in the year.
Thirteen months ago, in his first appearance before the tribunal,
Mrdja pleaded not guilty to all three counts of the indictment.
