ZAGREB, July 20 (Hina) - The 50th Pula Film Festival formally opened in the northern Adriatic city on Saturday evening with a traditional display of fireworks. The event will last until July 24 during which time seven films will be
presented in official competition. The festival was declared open by the Mayor of Pula, Luciano Delbianco, who said that the 50 years of the summer film festival had made Pula "a treasury of cultural wealth". "There's no doubt anymore, film has become part of this city," he added. Among numerous guests and dignitaries attending the opening ceremony were President Stjepan Mesic, Defence Minister Zeljka Antunovic, Culture Minister Antun Vujic and Istria County Prefect Ivan Jakovcic.(hina) vm
