After talks which the three-man presidency and a Croatian
delegation, led by Prime Minister Ivica Racan, held in Sarajevo,
Covic told reporters that in the coming 60 days Bosnia, with
assurances from the Croatian side, was willing to invest more
efforts to ensure the adoption of an annex, i.e. a protocol, which
would change the agreement on Ploce Port and transit through Neum.
According to PM Racan, the Croatian parliament is willing to ratify
the Ploce port agreement on condition that in the coming two months
the two sides agree on changes to provisions on the port's managing
committee so that it would no longer include a member from the
international community.
Both Covic and Racan described bilateral relations as very good.
Racan added that it was in his country's national interest to see
Bosnia joining Euro-Atlantic organisations very soon.
He said Croatia treated the construction of the Vc corridor as an
issue of national interest, and Zagreb was in favour of the
expedited implementation of that project.
The Croatian PM confirmed that in the coming three to four weeks
Zagreb would send a concrete proposal to Sarajevo regarding the
preparations of a project on the Budapest-Ploce highway.
Croatia will bid for the construction of the highway after tenders
are invited in an international public announcement, he said adding
that his country had gained great experience in road construction
which could be valuable in efforts to build the Budapest-Ploce
section.
