ZAGREB, July 9 (Hina) - The international agency Fitch Ratings
improved Croatia's long-term credit rating on Tuesday. #L#
The country's credit rating remains BBB-, but its outlook has
changed from stable into positive, which the finance ministry has
interpreted as an opportunity for the country to be soon rated with
BBB.
Finance Minister Mato Crkvenac voiced exceptional satisfaction
with the latest assessment of the country's credit rating.
According to him, this has been the result of the macroeconomic
policy and efforts made in the fiscal sphere. The minister
described public finances as very solid and transparent, with
previous problems of illiquidity having been almost completely
solved.
The Fitch agency previously changed Croatia's rating on 28 June
2001, when the country was assigned a BBB-.
