Last week Bognar addressed a news conference at which he presented a
letter by Vjenceslav Bill, who claimed that two of Glavas's
associates had requested him, on Glavas's behalf, to kill Croatian
soldier Mate Sabic. HR and HTV aired special reports about the
case.
Glavas told reporters this was a case of "abuse of the state media,
aimed at smearing political opponents, and a political conspiracy
of the Social Democratic Party and Croatian Peasant Party from
Osijek County, supported by the parties' leaderships on the state
level".
Glavas claims that two months ago "the HDZ was informed that the
ruling coalition had devised a plan to launch a mudslinging
campaign against some two dozen political opponents", including
himself.
