Representatives of supporters known as the Bad Blue Boys said that
they would distribute copies of a letter, written on behalf of
supporter groups from across the country, to parliamentary
deputies before a session of parliament on Tuesday to express their
resentment.
Supporters say in the letter that they are not against supporters
being punished for their outrages, but that the proposed bill "is so
rigorous and gives so many powers to the police and security guards
that its evident intention is to destroy Croatian supporter
groups".
The letter says that the bill treats supporters as "second-class
citizens" and violates their human and civil rights. It announced
massive protest rallies throughout Croatia.
The government has sent the bill to parliament for urgent
discussion. Last Friday the bill won support in parliament from the
ruling coalition and the Istrian Democratic Assembly party, while
the opposition parties demanded that it be amended and discussed
under regular procedure.
