"Politics provides the framework, while the economy provides the
content for bilateral relations," Mesic said, adding that Croatia
was interested in advancing economic relations.
Mesic and his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Necdet Sezer, who is on a
two-day official visit to Croatia, attended the opening of a
Croatian-Turkish business forum, which resumed with business talks
among individual firms.
The three-day session of the business council started on July 1,
when a free trade agreement between the two countries went into
force.
Trade between Croatia and Turkey totals 40-50 million U.S. dollars
a year, with Croatia's exports accounting for nine million. Last
year trade increased by 10 percent.
The Turkish president said the free trade agreement could improve
economic cooperation.
The Turkish delegation ends their visit to Croatia in Dubrovnik on
Friday.
