MUNICH/ZAGREB, June 24 (Hina) - Germany's CSU party's spokesman in charge of foreign affairs on Tuesday slammed the recent decision adopted at the EU Summit in Salonika, saying it was wrong since "Croatia is being equated with states
of the so-called Western Balkans".

"Croatia is being equated with states of the so-called Western

Croatia is a Central European democracy "which meets criteria for
joining the EU at least as much as some candidate countries which
are becoming members," Bernd Posselt said at the European
Parliament.
Posselt, also president of the German Pan-European Union, appealed
to the European Council and Commission to grant Croatia the status
of a candidate country as early as this year and end negotiations
with Zagreb on access in 2007 at the latest.
