ZAGREB, June 17 (Hina) - At the beginning of its sitting on Tuesday, the Croatian parliament in an emergency procedure added to the agenda a government-sponsored package of labour and social legislature, including final amendments to
the Labour Act.

the Croatian parliament in an emergency procedure added to the
agenda a government-sponsored package of labour and social
legislature, including final amendments to the Labour Act. #L#
The laws refer to the adjustment of Croatia's legislation to
European Union standards -- final amendments to the Labour Act,
amendments to the law on the protection at work, amendments to the
law on mediation in finding employment and rights during the
unemployment period.
The package also includes a bill on workers' bad debts insurance in
case the employer goes bankrupt and a bill on the state commission
for controlling the procedure of public supply. Also included in
the agenda is the government-sponsored final text of the law on
food.
After negotiating with unionists and employers for several months,
the government forwarded the said amendments to parliament on June
12, recommending that they be adopted in emergency procedure.
Parliament resumed the session with a debate on a Croatian
Democratic Union (HDZ) proposal on voicing credible opinions about
Article 84 of the law on local and regional self-government.
