ZAGREB, June 13 (Hina) - The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) applauds the fact that the Croatian parliament on Thursday adopted an Asylum Act, the organisation's mission in Zagreb said in a press release Friday.

adopted an Asylum Act, the organisation's mission in Zagreb said in

The law is largely in accordance with the 1951 Geneva Convention and
its protocol from 1967, says the UNHCR, satisfied with the
provisions of the law.
The adoption of the Asylum Act is also an important step in the
process of Croatia's drawing closer to the European and is in line
with provisions of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement,
says the organisation.
