marked in Trebarjevo Desno near Sisak on Wednesday. #L#
HSS honorary president and MP Josip Torbar laid a wreath in front of
a bust of the Radic brothers in front of the house they were born in
on behalf of parliament and its speaker and HSS president Zlatko
Tomcic.
Torbar recalled that 75 years had passed since Stjepan Radic (1871-
1928) was assassinated at the Belgrade parliament and 83 since the
death of his brother Antun (1868-1919).
Croatia has not recovered from that blow because Stjepan Radic was a
"unique man in his views, in what he said, and represented the best
of the Croatian people," said Torbar.
He recalled Stjepan's teaching at the start of last century,
especially the ethical principles expressed in the HSS motto
"Humanity, Justice and Freedom". Torbar also recalled the
brothers' principles in the struggle for the unity of Croatian
territories and for democracy.
