Court, signed between the Bosnian and US governments. #L#
The agreement was signed less than a month ago during a visit by US
Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz to the country.
A member of the Bosnian state presidency, Sulejman Tihic, said the
adoption of the agreement was necessary to ensure continued US
military presence in Bosnia.
The agreement secures peace and stability and incorporates most
European Union guidelines, which is why its signing should not
endanger relations between Sarajevo and Brussels, Tihic said.
Under the Bosnian constitution, the agreement with the USA should
also be approved by the parliament's upper house (House of
Peoples). This is expected to happen without any major problems by
July 1, the deadline set by the US authorities.
