Accompanied by the tolling of church bells, the Holy Father arrived
at Stradun in the company of Dubrovnik bishop Zelimir Puljic and his
personal secretary Stanislaw Dziwisz. He was welcomed by a large
and cheerful crowd.
Pope John Paul II today celebrated the first Eucharist at
Dubrovnik's port of Gruz during which he beatified Mary of Jesus
Crucified Petkovic.
After the tour of Stradun, the Pontiff will head for the Dubrovnik
airport, from where he will return to his residence in Rijeka. On
Saturday, he will visit the north-eastern towns of Osijek and
Djakovo.
