ZAGREB, June 5 (Hina) - Just before an Altalia plain carrying Pope
John Paul II to Croatia landed on the northern island of Krk, the
local airport received an anonymous bomb threat Thursday evening.
The call proved to have been a hoax, police said tonight. #L#
"An unidentified man, apparently middle-aged, phoned the airport
telephone exchange operator and said a bomb was planted at the
airport," interior ministry spokeswoman Zinka Bardic told Hina.
Even though police examined the airport in search of explosives as
part of preparation measures before the pope's arrival, they
checked the airport again and found the anonymous tip to have been a
hoax.
Police are tracking down the tipper, Bardic said.
