At a meeting held after he handed in his credentials, Grdesic
informed Quesada about Croatia's chief goals on the foreign policy
front - admission to the European Union and NATO.
He also conveyed a request by the Croatian authorities that Mexico
liberalise the visa regime for Croatian citizens, which is
considered restrictive and hampers increasingly frequent tourist
visits. Croatia has cancelled visa requirements for Mexican
citizens.
The two countries should sign a set of agreements this year.
During his stay in Ciudad de Mexico, Grdesic will also meet
officials in the ministries of economy and foreign affairs, as well
as representatives of the Mexican Croat community.
Croatia and Mexico established diplomatic relations in December
1992.
