ZAGREB, May 8 (Hina) - The Croatian government decided on Thursday to initiate proceedings aimed at purchasing land at Bleiburg Field in Austria in order to open a memorial site and erect a monument to the Bleiburg victims killed in
the spring of 1945 after World War II.

The Culture Ministry was entrusted with drawing up a plan on
designing the memorial-site, while the Croatian Embassy in Vienna
was entrusted with purchasing land.
The official owner of the Bleiburg memorial-site would be the
Republic of Croatia. The government will appoint a special
committee in charge of the implementation of the project. The
committee will be comprised of representatives of government,
parliament, competent ministries and associations.
