A Croatian national committee selected the proposal by a team of
authors called 3LHD, "A Drop of Water - A Grain of Salt", as the best
solution for designing Croatia's pavilion.
According to the idea, the pavilion would be divided into two
storeys and five scenes. The concept will be based on a plan and
metaphor of a sea salt works. The pavilion will be able to
accommodate between 80 and 100 visitors at a time, and the
presentation will last for 12 minutes.
The March 25 - Sept. 25 EXPO 2005 exhibition in Aichi should be the
biggest world exhibition held so far. Ninety-six countries have
applied for participation. Japanese officials believe that the
exhibition would be visited by 15 million people.
Croatia will use its appearance on EXPO 2005 for presenting its
economy and tourism to the world public, said the head of the
Croatian national committee, Ivica Marecic.
Croatian companies and Japanese companies in Croatia have already
shown interest in taking part in EXPO. They are also prepared to
help Croatia reduce costs.
Although Marecic did not want to speak about the costs, he said that
according to estimates, they were within the margins of the costs of
Croatia's previous participation in world exhibitions. Croatia's
participation in exhibitions in Lisbon and Hannover cost about
EUR3.5 million each.
