Karoly Kocsis of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences' Geography
Institute and Andrija Bognar, a professor at the Geography
Department of Zagreb University's Faculty of Science said the
Panonian basin was the last big ethnically complex region in
Europe.
The ethnic map of the Croatian Panonian region is the fourth in a
series of maps of this kind and it presents the ethnic composition
of the population in the settlements of Croatia's Panonian region
in 1991 and 2001 and the ethnic composition of its eastern part in
1941.
On the back of the map, which has the ratio 1:400,000, there are
eight smaller maps representing the ethnic composition of the
country's Panonian region in 1495, 1784, 1880, 1910, 1931, 1941,
1991 and 2001.
