Croatian Government, without stating why the agreement was not
signed. #L#
The government's commission for relations with religious
communities told Hina the Baptist Alliance refused to sign the
agreement because it did not resolve the issue of real estate
returns. The commission said this matter would be resolved through
legislation and not an agreement.
According to the agreement, the Baptist Church would annually be
guaranteed almost 500,000 kuna (EUR66,700), in addition to rights
granted other religious communities.
The Croatian government late last year signed agreements relating
to issues of common interest with the Serb Orthodox Church and the
Islamic Community in Croatia.
Agreements with the Evangelist Church in Croatia and the Reformed
Christian Church in Croatia have been harmonised.
