Unofficial sources said, however, that among the missing paintings
were three very valuable pieces by Menci Clement Crncic while the
fourth painting was less valuable.
Crncic (1865) was renown for his coastal landscapes.
It is assumed that the paintings were stolen last weekend. They were
located in the cabinets of three Deputy Prime Ministers - Linic,
Granic and Simonic.
The spokeswoman for the Interior Ministry, Zinka Bardic, confirmed
that a criminal investigation was underway but she did not wish to
release any details.
