Pope John Paul received the three-member Presidency yesterday.
He is set to come to Bosnia on June 22, on which occasion he will
beatify Ivan Merz, a Catholic intellectual, in Banja Luka.
The Presidency members briefed the Holy Father about Bosnia's
economic recovery, the rule-of-law, and the co-existence of
Croats, Muslims, and Serbs.
The pope accepted Covic's proposal that Bosnia present the Vatican
with the traditional Christmas tree this year.
The Vatican audience also addressed the situation in Iraq. Covic
said the positions of Bosnia and the Holy See on the crisis were
identical.
