The Slovene foreign ministry did not want to comment, stating it had
not been informed about the event.
The Slovene radio said the two boats belonged to the "Riba" company
from Izola. The company's director said Croatian police had
intercepted the boats while they were fishing in international, not
Croatian waters, climbed on deck and ordered the crew to sail on to
Pula.
Istrian police reported today that the two Slovene fishing boats
had been found in Croatian territorial waters. The ships captains
have been charged with petty crime.
Police spokeswoman Stefanija Prosenjak-Zumber said all the catch
had been confiscated -- some 5,640 kg of pilchards and 110 kg of
anchovies. The fish has been turned over for purchase to Pula's
company "Riba".
The two boats' captains were taken before a magistrate in Pula
Wednesday morning.
