ZAGREB, Feb 27 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament resumed its 30th session on Thursday with the adoption of a report of the State Audit Office on audits it had carried out in privatised companies, and MPs accepted by a majority vote a
conclusion moved by the Democratic Centre (DC) on entrusting the government with a task to urgently start with amending the Privatisation Law.
ZAGREB, Feb 27 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament resumed its 30th
session on Thursday with the adoption of a report of the State Audit
Office on audits it had carried out in privatised companies, and MPs
accepted by a majority vote a conclusion moved by the Democratic
Centre (DC) on entrusting the government with a task to urgently
start with amending the Privatisation Law. #L#
A conclusion proposed by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) bench,
was also adopted referring to the obligation of the State
Prosecution to submit a report to Sabor within 150 days on
irregularities and illegal dealings in the privatisation process
and on crimes committed in that process.
The government is obliged to expedite the privatisation process
while the state prosecution and the state audit office are asked to
continue clarifying irregularities noticed in that process.
MPs turned down a suggestion by the DC that the government
discontinue selling all companies from the state-run portfolio
until the end of the term of office of the incumbent ruling
coalition and that the privatisation of the oil company "INA" be
stopped.
Parliament unanimously adopted a bill on Croatia's entry into the
Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA).
MPs adopted a law on the ratification of the Croatian-Malaysian
agreement on the double taxation avoidance and the prevention of
the evasion of income taxes.
Sabor passed a law on the ratification of the Croatian-Hungarian
agreement on the re-admission of illegal migrants as well as a law
on ratification of the Croatian-Macedonian free trade agreement.
Almost all parliamentary benches moved that a bill on security in
road traffic be forwarded into the third reading and announced
numerous amendments.
